STRATFORD – VALENCIA CREEK CARAVAN PARK – STRATFORD.

From the start proceed out the Llowalong Rd, when we get to the Boisdale/ Briagolong Rd turn left towards Bushy Park where we turn right onto Valencia Creek Rd and proceed to the caravan park for lunch.
After lunch we retrace our route to the intersection of the Briagolong/Valencia Creek Rd and turn right and go over the Avon River and continue around to the Back Valencia Creek Rd then turn right and follow it till meeting the Newry Rd and turn left going down past the school and into Boisdale then head towards Maffra. At the bottom of Fosters Hill bear left into the Boisdale/Stratford Rd, then at Stewarts Lane go left passing over Weirs Crossing on our way back to the start at Stratford.
10:00am start from the Stratford Rail Station.

 

 

WONTHAGGI WANDER WEEKEND.  Saturday 13 & Sunday 14/2/10

 

 

 We will revisit Wonthaggi for another great weekend away staying at the Coalfields Caravan Park, Cnr Graham Street & Dudley Road, Wonthaggi.  Cabins, Tent, Caravan sites available.

Camp kitchen available, BYO meat for BBQ and share Salads and Sweets, (nominate your choice).

Day 1 Saturday 13th - Leave from Wonthaggi Caravan Park 10.00am.  If riders wish they can ride on Rail Trail to Anderson (must have fat tyres) where they will rejoin other riders.  Other riders will continue on the bitumen to the Bass Highway (T intersection) and turn left and travel on sealed shoulder (traffic can be heavy on this road), via Bass to Coronet Bay, onto Corinella for lunch.  Travel back to Kilcunda via Glen Forbes and Woolamai back to Wonthaggi (optional return on rail trail for fat tyres), a couple of challenging hills around Glen Forbes and Woolamai.

Day 2 Sunday 14th  - Depart Wonthaggi, ride north to Kongwak, to Inverloch via Ellerside and lunch at Inverloch.  Return to Wonthaggi via the spectacular coast road and Cape Paterson.  This ride also has a couple of climbs but not too serious.

MAFFRA – BLUE POOLS - MAFFRA.

From the start head up the hill towards the water tower at Duart Reception Centre then continue towards the cemetery and round into Sellings Rd and past the tip, down the hill and turn left towards Boisdale. At Pearces Lane go right then left into Back Boisdale Rd and follow to the end going right over the Avon River then left into Bushy Park/Valencia Creek Rd, then at Valencia Creek/Briagolong Rd intersection turn right then after passing over the Freestone Creek take the next left turn and follow on up the Freestone Creek Rd to the Blue Pools for lunch.
After lunch retrace our steps to Briagolong where we turn right at the hotel, heading towards Boisdale then turning left at Crooked Lane and follow it up to Stewarts Lane, then turn right going over Weirs Crossing then at the end of Stewarts Lane go left along Beet Rd to Norden’s Lane where we go right and continue back to the start at Maffra. Don’t forget to bring your swimming gear for this one.

HEYFIELD – TOONGABBIE – HEYFIELD.

From the start head out of town past the old Butter Factory to the Heyfield/Dawson Rd and follow it to the intersection with the Cowwarr/Seaton Rd and turn left towards Cowwarr. At the Traralgon Rd turn right and head towards the Cowwarr Weir. At the Walhalla/Toongabbie Rd intersection, go left then proceed to the Toongabbie Football Ground for lunch.
After lunch head towards Cowwarr then bear right into the Sale/Toongabbie Rd, after crossing the Rosedale Rd turn left at Nambrok Rd and go up to Grimmes Rd and turn right, then at the Maffra Rd turn left and head towards Tinamba, after going over the Thompson River turn left into Riverview Rd and proceed back to the start at Heyfield.
10:00am start from Apex Park Heyfield.   .

SALE – CHINNS BRIDGE – STRATFORD – SALE.

From the start go round via McMillan St, then cross the South Gippsland Highway then into McIntosh Drive around the south side of Lake Guthridge, then into Montgomery St, at Somerton Park Rd turn left and go to Cobains Rd and turn right, follow this to Cobains Estate Rd and turn left, then at the Bengworden Rd turn right and follow round over Chinns Bridge up the hill to the Stratford/Bengworden Rd intersection and turn left and follow to Stratford for lunch.
After lunch there is a short run down the highway to Airly Rd where we turn left and proceed back to the start at Sale.

HEYFIELD - BOB GRAHAM RIDE.

This ride has become a regular fundraiser for the LIONS RIDE FOR SIGHT while we can enjoy one of Bob’s favourite training rides. There is ample opportunity for riders to shorten their route if they so desire. Fees are doubled on the day and donated to the Lions ride for Sight. (Possible BBQ supplied at the end of the ride, gold coin donations accepted).

BRIAGOLONG – MAFFRA – BRIAGOLONG

From the start head off towards Boisdale then at Crooked Lane bear left and follow up to Stewarts Lane, turn right and after passing over Weirs Crossing turn left at the end of Stewarts Lane then next right into Brewers Hill Rd, after going up the hill cross over the Maffra/Boisdale Rd and at the cemetery turn left and proceed to the Port of Maffra for lunch.
After lunch head towards Stratford then bear left at Fulton Rd. At Morison St turn right and go to Beet Rd, then go left and head to Boisdale. At Boisdale, turn left up past the school and turn right into Back Valencia Creek Rd, at the end of the road turn left up the hill and follow round over the Avon River, then continue on the Valencia Creek/Briagolong Rd back to the start. 

10:00am start from Anzac Park Briagolong.

STRATFORD – MAFFRA – STRATFORD

From the start head down the highway and bear left into Airly Rd then proceed to the Clydebank Rd intersection and turn right heading for the highway. Cross the highway and follow Montgomery Rd to the Maffra/Sale Rd where we turn left then right into Blyth’s Lane which runs into Bundalaguah Rd and takes us in to Maffra for the lunch break at the Port.
After lunch head out Gibney St past the football ground and out the Newry Rd to Sandy Creek Rd and turn right, at the cemetery turn left and follow round to Sellings Rd then down the hill to the Boisdale/Maffra Rd and turn right then left into the Stratford/Boisdale Rd. At Stewarts Lane turn left and head back to Stratford via Weirs Crossing. 

10:00am start from the Stratford Rail Station.

ROSEDALE – COWWARR – ROSEDALE.

From the start head up the highway over the Latrobe River to the Denison Rd (nice wide shoulder) and turn left. At Grimmes Rd turn left, then after passing through the big roundabout at Kenevans Corner follow the main road to Cowwarr for lunch at the football ground.
After lunch we retrace our steps for about 2km and turn right into Neilsens Rd, at the Toongabbie/Sale Rd turn left and proceed to the Rosedale/Heyfield Rd and turn right. We are now lined up for a short breathtaking ride back into Rosedale. 

10:00am start from the public car park beside the hotel.

BRIAGOLONG – MUNRO – STRATFORD – BRIAGOLONG.

From the start we head up the Briagolong/Stockdale Rd which has an interesting little hill that is guaranteed to get our circulation going. Once we join the Stockdale Rd it is straight forward follow your nose stuff through Munro over the highway into Riley Rd which brings us on to the Stratford/Bengworden Rd and into Stratford for lunch.
Following lunch we head towards Briagolong until Lees Rd where we make a left hand turn and go to the Maffra/Briagolong Rd, turning right and returning to the start at Briagolong.

MAFFRA – MARLEY POINT – MAFFRA.

65km.

From the start head up the Stratford Rd to Fulton Rd and turn left, then at Morison St turn right and head for Beet Rd where we turn left. At Stewarts Lane turn right and head in to Stratford where we veer left in to McFarlane and go to the highway and turn left. Next turn right from the highway in to Stratford/Bengworden Rd and follow until we get to the Sale/ Bengworden Rd intersection and turn right going down the hill and over the river to the Marley Point Rd and turn left and on to Marley Point for lunch.
After lunch we return via Clydebank Rd to the highway, then cross over to Montgomery Rd which we follow to the Sale/Maffra Rd and turn left then right into Blyth’s Lane then follow it around till it becomes Bundalaguah Rd and brings us back to the start in Maffra.

LINDENOW – ANNIE’S COTTAGE – LINDENOW.

From the start we head out through Lindenow South, crossing the highway onto the Meerlieu/Lindenow Rd to Boundary Rd where we turn left on to GRAVEL ROAD for the last kilometre to the cottage and lunch stop. (Lunch is usually hosted by the Robbins who are only too pleased to inform us of the functions that the cottage provides). On our return trip we traverse the same track until we get to Lindenow then we continue down the hill over the Mitchell River at WukWuk and up the hill to the WyYung/Calulu Rd where we can enjoy the breath taking vistas of the Mitchell River flats, then we drop back down over the river at Calulu Bridge and at Soldiers Rd turn right for the run back to the start in to Lindenow.

ROSEDALE – WILLUNG SOUTH – GORMANDALE – ROSEDALE.

From the start we head over the railway line and down the Willung Rd which later merges with the Gormandale/Stradbroke Rd that we follow to Hiamdale where we bear left into the Willung South Rd. (SHORT SECTION OF GRAVEL) We now find ourselves at the top of Powers Hill where we must exercise extra caution entering the Hyland Highway for the run down to Gormandale for lunch.
After lunch we pay for the great downhill with a great uphill as we follow the Hyland Highway to a right turn into the Rosedale/Flynns Creek Rd for our run back to the start at Rosedale.

LONGFORD – SEASPRAY – LONGFORD.

65km.

From the start we ride down the South Gippsland Hwy to Stradbroke where we turn left into the Seaspray/Stradbroke Rd which merges with Middle Rd. We stay on Middle Rd until the intersection with Owens Lane where we turn left and follow on over Merrimans Creek, past the Seaspray School and on into Seaspray for lunch.
After lunch we follow the Seaspray Rd back to the intersection with the Seaspray/Stradbroke Rd and turn left. Follow on until we find ourselves back on Middle Rd which we follow to the end where it meets with the Seaspray Rd and then it is up over 3GI Hill and back to the start.   10:00am start from the Longford Public Hall.

FERNBANK – LINDENOW – LINDENOW SOUTH – FERNBANK.

From the start we head along the Fernbank/Glenaladale Rd to the locality known as the Fingerboards and turn right, passing through Walpa and on into Lindenow.
After taking in the sights we head for Lindenow South for our lunch break at the football ground.
After lunch we head along the Lindenow South/Fernbank Rd which will bring us back to the Fernbank/Glenaladale Rd which we follow back to the start at Fernbank.  
10:00am start from the Fernbank Public Hall.

HEYFIELD – CHEYNES BRIDGE – HEYFIELD.

From the start we proceed to the Glenmaggie Township, then at the old bridge we must all dismount and walk across the bridge before resuming our ride to Cheynes Bridge for lunch. After lunch we retrace our steps until we get to Monds Hill which we ride down and join up with the Seaton/Glenmaggie Rd. Bearing left we head down the hill past the backwater to rejoin our mornings route adjacent to the cemetery, we then ride up to the Tinamba/Glenmaggie Rd intersection and turn left and ride round to Weir Rd where we turn right and we are on track to finish back in Heyfield. A point to remember on this ride is that the road is narrow and winding so extra care should be taken at all times

Same as last year. Stay at Buchan Backpackers Lodge, Ride from Bairnsdale to Buchan, overnight stay, evening meal at Buchan Hotel and ride back to Bairnsdale on Sunday. 
Price will advised closer to time (eg at AGM in August).

From the start head towards Woodside Beach and turn right into McLoughlins Beach Rd, at Balloong Rd intersection veer right and follow until it joins Old Sale Rd and veer left. At Tarraville we turn right and join the Manns Beach Rd which we follow to the Port Albert/Tarraville Rd intersection and veer left then follow it to Port Albert for lunch.
After lunch we follow the Yarram/Port Albert Rd back through Alberton to Pound Road East where we turn right and follow till we rejoin Old Sale Rd and follow it back to the South Gippsland Highway for the final run back to the finish at Woodside.

MAFFRA – RIVERSLEA – TINAMBA – MAFFRA.

From the start we head out of Maffra past the Butter Factory into Bundalaguah Rd and follow it around over the MacAlister River and into Riversdale Rd, then carry on ahead into Cornwell’s Rd which will bring us onto the Boggy Creek Rd where we turn left and proceed through the next intersection (Maffra/Rosedale Rd) to McKinnons Rd and turn right. This brings us out on the Tinamba/Seaton Rd where we turn right for the short trip into Tinamba for lunch.
After lunch we head for Maffra until we reach Mewburn Park Rd where we turn left and follow it around until it rejoins the Tinamba/Maffra Rd where we turn left for the short run back into Maffra. 
10:00am start from the Port of Maffra.
